    Tai Chi with Master Gerry Cook FREE Tai Chi at the Waukegan Municipal Beach with training by professional martial artist and multi-discipline master, Gerald Cook. Arrive by 9:30am to sign in and to do some warm up stretching. Also, wear something loose and stretchy. The most common Tai Chi attire is a T-shirt and sweat pants. Tai Chi with Master Gerry Cook is brought to you by the Waukegan Park District and the City of Waukegan.

  3. Jim Wilson/North Avenue Tap 8th Annual Ribs Cookoff

    June 16, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ North Avenue Tap

    It's North Avenue Tap's biggest event of the year!!! Only $8 for entry to the yard will get you the opportunity to try some of the best ribs around. Don’t forget to try out all of the side dishes and cast your vote for your favorite (keep in mind, the tent with the best ribs and the tent with the best single side dish are separate awards). They will be doing more ribs this year with over 150 slabs to be cooked in all! Tasting starts at noon. The beer garden will be open to get in a game of Bocce Ball or Bags. Drink specials, too!

  4. Juneteenth Celebration of Lake County

    June 16, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Bowen Park

    Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas, with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Come and celebrate that freedom and commemoration of the end of slavery. All our welcome.
