The Council of the City of Waukegan met in regular session on Tuesday, February 6, 2006 at 8:05 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall 100 North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.  Mayor Hyde, City Clerk Wayne Motley, Corporation Counsel Brian Grach & Treasurer Pat Dutcher were present.

35.  Motion by Alderman Rivera, seconded by Alderman Newsome that Corporation Counsel draft an Ordinance to amend Section 24.36 “Connection with sanitary sewers” providing that the home is located 100 feet from the lot line in which the owner must connect to city water within 90 days or after, also if the home is located 200 feet from the water & sewer line, the hook up requirement should be waived and to waive the rezoning petition fees for 24 months.  Referred to the Public Works Committee by Mayor Hyde.

 

36.  Alderman Rivera then thanked the Fire and Police Department for providing safety for the meetings regarding immigration, held at Holy Family on Keller Ave.

38.  Stated that there was a drug bust at 1612 Elizabeth St.  He then voiced his sympathy to the family of Maggie Robinson due to her husband passing away.

39.  Agrees with Alderman Cunningham that we need to get rid of vacant buildings throughout the city.  He then voiced his concerns regarding the parking & parking meters downtown.
