8. The Waukegan Police Department received Equitable Sharing payments in the amount of $20,424.67 from the U. S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, and a check in the amount of $1,781.64 from the Illinois State Police.

FIRE DEPARTMENT:

 

9.   The Waukegan Fire Department in conjunction with the Waukegan Police Department and ILEAS obtained a grant for one (1) ScanX Portable Digital X-Ra Machine. This unit will allow member of the Fire Department’s Hazardous Material Team to X-Ray suspicious packages at the scene of potential hazardous device calls. This item will replace the X-Ray unit that the Fire Department currently has, which is vital to the Hazardous Device Teams’ safety. The unit was granted to Waukegan at no cost to the City.  Cost of the equipment granted to the City of $24,473.00.

 

The Waukegan Fire Department received a reimbursement check from Winthrop Harbor in the amount of $2,299.89.  The Waukegan Fire Department responded mutual aid to a fire in Winthrop Harbor in February 2008.  During the firefighting efforts, 220 gallons of te Fire departments foam was used. Under the spiller pays ordinance in Winthrop Harbor, the cost of the foam is reimbursed to the originating department.
