Alderman Rivera

ALDERMEN’S TIME:

45. The people have spoken as to how important the Police, Fire and Public Works are to our community.  They are the ones who keep our city together.  I do not want to see cuts in Police & Fire.

Alderman Cunningham

46. No ward is in need of the Police & Fire services than my ward. When you cut Police and fire services the hit is harder in my area. In Normal, Illinois vacant building must be registered. We may consider increasing rental fees too. We leave our families daily to do the bidding of the City. I think that decisions will be made by Aldermen with the best interest of the City in mind. Don’t talk to me about layoffs I was laid off last December by one of the largest companies in the country. We need to look at every opportunity to generate revenue and an layoffs should be equal and fair.

Alderman Koncan

47. Police & Fire and Public Works employees should remain intact. I have not heard anything from my ward regarding possible solutions to the current situation the City finds its self in. Hope to see everyone this weekend at Scooping on Genesee.

Alderman Moisio

48. Thanked Needham for his commitment to resolving the current budget crisis. We don’t want anyone’s job. Certainly not the Police and Firemen. The fire fighters union has made several suggestions. At the end of the day we have to work together.

Alderman Figueroa

49.  Even with the water rates increase we are still extremely reasonable. We need to improve our pumping system. Fireworks were great.

Alderman Newsome

50. Do not want to layoff and Police and Firemen. We are working on a solution. I do not want anyone to lose their jobs. We will work hard to balance this budget.

Alderman TenPas

51. Discussed what happen to the City to place it in this situation. Loss of  tax revenue is the #1 problem. Look at employee’s raises if I could give up my raise to keep my fellow workers on the job I would. Unions need to work with the City on getting through this budget crisis. I do not want to lay off any employees myself.

Alderman Needham

ALDERMENT’S TIME cont.:

52. Lively debate tonight. We have been working for the last eight weeks to increase our revenues. During my ten years I have been an avid supporter of the Police and Fire I pledge to continue working to resolve this budget problem.

Alderman Larsen

53. Main Street evening wine stroll, was wonderful last week. We are experience financial reality. Assessments are going to start falling. The problems will not end this year. Police & Fire must be given priority in budget considerations. Thanked Aldermen for their commitment to working on addressing this budget crisis.

ADJOURNMENT
