The Council of the City of Waukegan met in regular session on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 7:00P.M. In the City Council Chambers, City Hall 100 North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.  Mayor Sabonjian, City Clerk, Wayne Motley, John Schwab, City Treasurer and Corporation Counsel, Newton Finn were present.

11. ARA Agreement with Beach Park Fire Department

The Waukegan Fire Department has provided a copy of the revised Automatic Fire and EMS Mutual Aid Agreement as amended from the previous agreement initiated in 1973, renewed in 1989. Beach Park and the Waukegan Fire Department have had a long history of dual responses; dating back to time that Beach Park was named the Bonnie Brook Fire Department.

 

12. Alarm Board Project

The Waukegan Fire Department recommends, after much research, Option 3 as presented to create an RFP based on specifications written b the fire department, submitted to various providers for competitive bid and contract acceptance, for a system which allows both telephone direct connect and radio.  Option there (3) would increase revenues to approximately $420,000, about three (3) time the current revenue plus administrations coast and equipment cost.

29.  School safety zones should be instituted next year when the school district goes back to neighborhood schools. For those children who walk to school. Make these routes safe for our children. Approached by Pastors they are concerned because we eliminated prayer before our City Council Meetings. I think we need to bring that back to City Hall.
