DAN TRAYNOFF

202 S. ELMWOOD

AUDIENCE TIME:

23.  Has been slandered twice by an Alderman on this Council.  We are not accountable to the Aldermen, the Aldermen are accountable to tax payers.  He feels cheated by the paving on his street, it was repaved 12 years ago.  Patch work was done in front of his home, has pictures of his home and the street were he lives on.  This needs to be investigated.

DIANE VERRATTI

630 GROVE AVE

24.  Thanked Council for support of Main Street Events.  Monday August 27, there will be a recognition event.  August 30, Taste of Downtown Waukegan from 11-2 pm, there will be 7 restaurants.  Great Food and Fun.

MARGARET CARRASCO

532 N. LEWIS

25.  She spoke on Homeland Security and Immigration Laws.  Focus should be placed on Code of Ethics of Police Officers.  They should serve and protect.

CHRIS BLANKS

409 OAK ST

26.  Last council meeting, when I had several citizens address the concerns with the police, Alderman Cunningham indicated that he would have a process for complaints of the citizens.  What the citizens complaining wanted was to hold the police accountable for their misconduct.

ALDERMAN NEEDHAM

ALDERMEN’S TIME:

27.  In reference to Mr. Blanks and the citizens he brought to the last meeting that were complaining about an incident with an officer, Chief Yancey agreed to meet with them the next day for a meeting and they were a no show.  The City was assured that the yard waste would be picked up.  Residents should leave the waste at the curb, it will be picked up.

ALDERMAN LARSEN

28.  Don’t be afraid to call your Alderman if you have garbage pick up concerns.  Realtors Association must get to City Hall within 72 hours to notify the City when a house is up for sale.

ALDERMAN RIVERA

29.  Thanked Johnny Johnson and Biddy Johnston for cleaning up area behind the Moon Shine Lounge.

ALDERMAN CUNNINGHAM

ALDERMEN’S TIME cont.:

30.  I can accept problems with garbage pick up, what I cannot accept is the attitude of the waste pick up employees and how they react with a nasty disposition.  They need to change their customer service.  Everyone is complaining about the speeding on side streets, it has got to stop.  The best way to catch the speeders is with the motorcycle officer.  Presented process for handling police complaints, need to have a policy in place to address these problems.

ALDERMAN BALEN

31.  I am the target of one of the citizens here tonight.  I am not going to play games with Mr. Traynoff.  I don’t dictate which streets get fixed.  The people in my area paid for the curbs in our area to be fixed.  Mr. Traynoff , I am tired of your crying, you better clean up your act.

ALDERMAN MOISIO

32.  He has also, received many complaints about the garbage pick up.

ALDERMAN FIGUEROA

33.  No Comment.

ALDERMAN NEWSOME

34.  She has been receiving complaints in her ward about garbage pickup, as well.  The report from the Chief, on curfew violations is coming back to us.

ALDERMAN TENPAS

35.  As Chairman of Public Works, we should communicate on street repairs.  We have a lot of patches throughout the city, in order to save the streets and get a little more use out of the street.  Sometimes we let the curbs go and we come back to them later, we work within our budget.  Driveway approach are the responsibility of the homeowner.  Nothing has been done with the property on 10th St and Jackson, when we give property away something should be done with it in a reasonable amount of time.
