HELD OVER

ORDINANCES/RESOLUTIONS cont.:

16.  Motion by Alderman Newsome, seconded by Alderman Needham to adopt, as presented, an ordinance to add Labor Relations to the list of City Council Committees.

HELD OVER BY ALDERMAN BALEN (WHO ELABORATED ON THE MATTER WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS)

ALDERMAN BALEN’S COMMENTS

17.  I would like to speak about the Labor Relations Committee Ordinance.  The matter in which this ordinance was adopted has changed, it was a personal vendetta against me, to being on this committee.  There wasn’t any reason to change the size of the Labor Relations Committee.  It was all going along fine, until this personal vendetta was taken against me.  This is also an insult to the Democratic Party, who sent you a resolution supporting my seniority on this committee.  I am the Senior Democrat, which is, why I resent this and want to hold over this ordinance.

ALDERMAN FIGUEROA

25.  The tree trimming on Sheridan Rd is terrible.  There is extensive damage to the trees being done.  We need to send Com Ed a message, call Police, issue citations or call Code Compliance.  Something needs to be done about this butchering of trees.

ALDERMAN NEWSOME

26.  No Comment.

ALDERMAN TENPAS

ALDERMEN’S TIME cont.:

27.  The cutting of trees needs to get taken care of , these people aren’t tree trimmers, they are butchers.  The trees are being cut so bad, that they are dying.  We need to get a tree planting program.  I want a court order to stop the butchering of trees.  We should hire an attorney if we have to, to stop them.  I hope the Chief will enforce our ordinance.

ALDERMAN NEEDHAM

28.  The Labor Relations Committee is working on a number of issues.  We need to get these issues taken care of, the longer we delay, the longer they will take.
