AUDIENCE TIME:
27. What is the status on 287G? What percent of Waukegan Residents are Latino? I would like to commend the Police Department and everyone up here. I have no problem with the deportation of criminals, but this is a direct attack on the Latino community. Legal or Illegal, around the nation, Latinos are very hardworking people (Mayor Hyde replied to questions) |
ANTHONY NELSON 3015 BURRIS ST
28. He, as well as, a group of people that he has brought with him are concerned with the building of Sunset Ave Apartments. As property owners, they will be impacted. He is, also, concerned about the loss of mature trees. He doesn’t appreciate the manner in which this occurred. He feels their needs aren’t being addressed. What can the City do to help us? The City has an obligation to its residents. Alderman Larsen has been a good Alderman to them, he wrote Alderman Larsen a letter and all the residents there tonight signed it. |
SHIRLEY ROBINSON 3019 BURRIS ST |
29. If these apartments continue to be built on Sunset Ave, I will have no privacy. This building will triple the number of residents in this area. Why are we tearing up our community. I can’t afford to move. I will loose all the way around, in the value of my home and in the quality of life. |
CHRIS BLANKS 409 OAK ST |
30. Last month he brought the Buckley Family, to discuss an incident that had occurred with Chon Buckley and a police officer, he would like to know what action was taken. Last year, this young man was also beat up by a police officer. Police should be held accountable for their actions. Alderman TenPas said, “It’s Showtime”, when I was going to speak at the last meeting. We didn’t come here to put on a show, this is serious. |
ALDERMAN CUNNINGHAM |
ALDERMEN’S TIME:
31. After listening to the problems in Alderman Larsen’s ward, maybe we need to take a look at the zoning ward by ward. I would like to see the City buy the lots and sell them back to the residents in order to keep this from happening again. This will help reduce density. Regarding the Butler family, a process is in place. There was contact made and a report was taken. As an Elected Official, I will do my job. I am close to this case and have spoken to D.C. Yancey and Greathouse regarding this case. This investigation isn’t moving as fast as we want it to, but I know that our Department is working on this. I understand the frustration. I will personally talk to the Butler family. |
ALDERMAN MOISIO |
32. I feel for the residents of Burris Ave, but if the property is zoned that way, there is really nothing that we can do. My heart goes out to you, but our hands are tied. |
ALDERMAN FIGUEROA |
33. Thanked Public Works, Police Department, Public Relations Department and everyone involved .for their help with the Hispanic parade yesterday |
ALDERMAN NEWSOME |
34. No Comment. |
ALDERMAN TENPAS |
ALDERMEN’S TIME:
35. The Council needs to look at a City map and take in parcels that have not yet been taken in. As far as showtime, the only show he knows of is Genesee Theatre. His daughter will be putting on a show |
