The Council of the City of Waukegan met in regular session on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 7:10P.M. In the City Council Chambers, City Hall 100 North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. Mayor Sabonjian, City Clerk, Wayne Motley, John Schwab, City Treasurer and Corporation Counsel Newton Finn were present.

The City would transfer a 1987 Chevy one tone dump truck (which needs many repairs) to the Waukegan Township Highway Department for the scissor lift (used in City Hall) which is owned b the Waukegan Township Highway Department as presented.

21. Regarding Larsen’s hold over, they need behavior lessons. They have been bad for city business. Don’t know if Busy Brains the business who was scheduled to go into the 221 N. Genesee Building is good either. We need to alternate the Chairman Pro tem.

30. Trick or Treat October 31, from 2-4 p.m. Last weekend Waukegan was overwhelmed with activities, Cemetery Walk and Air Show were all community events.

32. OMC Plant (monitor the containment cells) we have a $100,000 grand which was attached to the clean up for slip #3. Ray Vukovich commented that this money is being used for cleanup of the Larsen Marine property as per a previous agreement.

ALDERMEN’S TIME cont.:

35. Thanks to F.I.S.T. Hispanic Day Parade. They helped in the cleanup of the parade route. The issues Alderman TenPas regarding Youth Build are valid concerns. For most of them this is their last chance. They are a rough crowd. They need strong leadership. We teach them anger management and financial management. The city cannot donate money to Busy Brains so youth build will assist them. While they are at the property. Saturday we did a cleanup at the beach and picked up everything. We need to enforce our littering laws there are garbage can everywhere et people throw trash on the ground. Maybe we can work with the schools and address these issues.
