ALDERMEN’S TIME:

19.  No Comment.

ALDERMAN FIGUEROA

20.  No Comment.

ALDERMAN NEWSOME

21.  She received a complaint about someone cutting more trees in a property than what the permit was for.  Do we have a process in place, where after a person gets a permit to cut a tree the City goes out to check and make sure that no more was cut than what the permit allowed.  Regarding the Dog ordinance, we need to have something ready for the next council meeting.

ALDERMAN TENPAS

22.  Thanked the Chief of Police.

ALDERMAN NEEDHAM

23.  No Comment.

ALDERMAN LARSEN

24.  The Waukegan Fire Department Open House is this Saturday, October 6 from 11-2 PM at Firestation #2 at the corner of Belvidere and O’Plaine Rd.  There will be tons of equipment.

ALDERMAN RIVERA

25.  We have drafted a Dog Ordinance, the concern now is with the fines.  Would like this ordinance on the next Public Safety Committee Meeting Agenda.  (Alderman Moisio- This isn’t breed specific, before I get over 500 emails, I want to make it clear that this ordinance isn’t breed specific.)  The Little Fort Lyons Candy Days is this weekend, its for a good cause, they are collecting money for the Deaf and Blind.  Mr. Blanks, we do have an Office of Professional Standards, nothing will be done until the investigation is complete.

ALDERMAN CUNNINGHAM

26.  To Mr. Blanks, Civil Service has the final decision in disciplinary actions.  Thanked the Police Department and Public Works for good work in the 1st ward.  They’ve been having tough times in our street corners in the 1st ward.  Biddy and his team are doing a tremendous job, Kudos to you and your team.  On rental agreements, he received a call last week from a person who was upset.  All it takes is one bad landlord to ruin your whole block.  Bad Landlords have ruined some parts of our city.  Most of these landlords don’t live in this city.

ALDERMAN BALEN

27.  Thanked Council for the flowers they sent him while he was ill.  He is disappointed at the Democrats on the Council for not recognizing him as the Senior Democrat Alderman.  This brings a sour taste to my mouth.  We had some gang activity in my ward over the weekend, the police did a great job handling the situation.  Thanked the Police Department and the Fire Department.
