Aldermen indicated that they did not want these layoffs what actions can you take to stop this? What are your plans? The Aldermen found out about the layoffs in the paper. You are targeting the two police unions we cannot come to any agreement if things are constantly changing.

ALDERMEN’S TIME:

27. Art Lake brought up some good ideas for fundraising. We are down millions of dollars in sales tax from last year. Got a call on water line insurance it is legal (buyer beware) it is a hit or miss thing. Take an exception to this layoff being called a game by Officer Villafuerte.

Alderman Larsen

28. October 31, Trick or Treat from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Alderman Rivera

29. These layoff have caused me many struggles. Several of these Aldermen did not support these layoffs. We put a lot of money into these officers in training & equipment. We may not get these officers back.

SUSPEND LAYOFFS

HELD OVER

30. Motion by Alderman Rivera, seconded by Alderman Figueroa to suspend the layoffs and get all parties back to the bargaining table in an attempt to resolve this matter.

HELD OVER BY ALDERMAN TENPAS

Alderman Cunningham

31. No comment.

Alderman Koncan

32. Not notified of layoffs. Had to hear about it in the paper. Why weren’t Alderman notified, why wasn’t this discussed in the Public Safety Committee? I cannot be left out of these discussions in the future.

Alderman Moisio

33. I have had a lot of sleepless nights over these layoffs. Very hard to compare different jobs. I will sit down with the Finance Director and see how we can save money. The Police Department holds this city together. Must keep our current man power.  Police Department most important. We have to keep our police officers.

Alderman Figueroa

34. Issue of CSO must also be discussed, take away the CSO and you will have to take officers from the street to do their jobs.

Alderman Newsome

35. Never my desire to lay anyone off. I will do my part to see where we can cut. Many calls from residents asking her not to lay off Police Officers.
