CHRIS CHAPMAN 3060 GRANDVILLE AVE
AUDIENCE TIME:
28. He spoke about discrimination, the $500 seizure ordinance and 287G. It is getting harder for poor people to live in Waukegan. This is all a way to get the poor people out of Waukegan.
FRED BAIRSTOW 800 CLAYTON |
29. He would like everybody to know that the cats around the neighborhood aren’t a nuisance. |
PARIS BANKHEAD 2401 W. DUGDALE RD |
30. He had an experience with Waukegan Police. He was at his cousins house, when his cousin and wife had a domestic dispute. The Police got there and got angry at him and told him to leave. Officer Baker and Officer Polis tackled him, pushed him and started hitting him on the head. They handcuffed him and put him against the wall, he has asthma and couldn’t breath. He is traumatized from this whole situation.
MRS. BANKHEAD 2401 W. DUGDALE RD |
AUDIENCE TIME:
31. She is very upset about what happened to her grandson with the Police. Her grandson is an A student and has never gotten into trouble. What happened to him is very wrong. (Mayor Hyde stated the situation will be investigated)
CHRIS BLANKS 409 OAK ST |
32. “Who’s Who Among High School Students?” Paris Bankhead is an A student, who never gets into trouble. He has also received many awards in school, which I have brought to pass around. He was upset when he received a call from Mrs. Bankhead, telling him they were on their way to Lake Forest Hospital because of the beating that was given to Paris Bankhead. He was beaten so bad he had knots on his head. Cops should be held accountable for their actions. The citizens have a right to know which officers are using excessive force with the people. |
JOYCE EVANS 829 MCALISTER |
33. She remembers back in the 60’s when Waukegan was on a shutdown. We had no police officers and the state troopers had to come in and help out. Police Officers now are out there trying to intimidate citizens. Something has to be done about police abuse.

39. It’s sad to say that Olivia Jenkins, the 18 month old that was fighting leukemia passed away Sunday morning. We’ll keep her and her family in our prayers. New garbage contract is coming up soon, would like the 1st ward residents to give him a call if they have any concerns. In regards to jobs, he had an opportunity to speak to a group of kids from YCC Youthbuild, this program does an excellent job with the youth. He also asked the union to go out and find young people to get involved in the trades. He looked at some of the development that is going on in downtown and at Fountain Square, its time we get more aggressive in getting contracts to hire Waukegan Residents. |
