4. INFORMATION ONLY: Fire Department
A.Waukegan Fire Department Combat Challenge Team The Waukegan Fire Department represented by five (5) department members at the annual World Firefighter’s Combat Challenge, November 10-15 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
B. UL Testing of Ground Ladders, 1008 The Waukegan Fire Department is required to annually tet the ladders which are used on the fire ground. This is a visual inspection and a Horizontal Bending Test per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard and also the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards. Eleven (11) ladders failed the visual testing standard but still passed the bend test this year. Per the UL Standards these ladders failed the testing. The Fire Department has purchased five (5) ladders to replace frontline ladders on the engines at a cost of $3,075.00. The fire administration has also requested six (6) ladders to be purchased by the Foreign Fire Tax Board, with approval from the FFT board expected on December 10, 2008.

C. Checks received from the U.S. Department of Justice, DEA and the Illinois State Police The Waukegan Police Department received Equitable Sharing payments in the amount of $1,628.08 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, and a check in the amount of $5,904.37 from the Illinois State Polcie. |
