REV. ROBERT L. RANKIN

300 LAKE ST

AUDIENCE TIME:

23.  My actual occupation is truck driving, my concern is all the tickets I keep getting.  As a truck driver, tickets hurt my driving record and this is my career.  The tickets I get aren’t fair.  Something needs to be done.

CHRIS BLANKS

409 OAK ST

24.  Paris Bankhead came before the City Council not so long ago with his family to discuss an incident he had with Waukegan Police and I just wanted to let everyone know that his grandmother passed away this past weekend.  This will be my last time coming before the City Council.  Citizens should continue to come before the City Council and address issues that affect them.

ALDERMAN LARSEN

ALDERMEN’S TIME:

25.  There will be a Mardi Grass  event Saturday, January 26, it’s hosted by Mainstreet.  Building Department’s year end statistics showed last year alone they made $129 million dollars, it’s growing each year.  John Jurkovac and his department are doing a fine job.  Regarding the water rate review, water is a valuable resource that Waukegan has, one should protect it and make sure it continues to serve our community.  I would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

ALDERMAN RIVERA

26. Thanked Biddy Johnston and his crew for snow removal.  Wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Make it a point to do something in the coming year.

ALDERMAN CUNNINGHAM

27.  Mario Peñas wife passed away today.  They are really good people.  We’ll keep the family in our prayers.  To all the families of Waukegan, Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Spoke to John Balen this morning, that man has nine lives, he’s tough.  Wanted me to discuss some things.  He is disturbed about Orchard Hills.  Now, I’m not an avid golfer, but I did read all the commentary in the Newspaper and Wayne did explain some things to me, that I was unclear on.   I would like to thank him for that.  Wayne did tell me this is going to be a magnificent opportunity.  Happy Holidays to all.

ALDERMAN MOISIO

28.  Would like to bring the Waukegan School District and the City together to find a spot to build a new High School.  Can we possibly use the Manville site?  When you put 3,500 teenagers crowded one on top of the other in a school in a residential neighborhood, that’s asking for trouble.  We have got to come together and do what’s best for the kids of Waukegan.  We have got to help the schools.

ALDERMAN FIGUEROA

29.  My condolences to the Peña family.   Thanked the Park District for their vision on the Sports Complex.  This is what we need, our children need something to do.  Keep safe over the holidays.  Wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

ALDERMAN NEWSOME

30.  Shared a letter she received last week on the good job that Public Works is doing.  Thanked Public Works for doing an excellent job.

ALDERMAN TENPAS

31.  Spoke about getting rid of audience time.  So many years we have had so much negativity during audience time.  Yes, we do need criticism, that is why the Mayor’s Office is always open or you can email.

ALDERMAN NEEDHAM

32.  Thanked the city for all the kind words, cards and prayers on the passing of his mother.  He and his family really appreciate it.  Would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

MAYOR HYDE

33.  In reference to John Balen, he really is tough, the older someone gets, the longer they want to live, it’s the same for everyone.  In reference to the School district, when you talk about fixing the school district, it starts at the top.  The person who is on top should be from Waukegan, when you get people in there that are from other cities, they don’t care.  Wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
