Rental Unit Business License Registration
All owners of rental housing properties in the City, except properties
of two units in which the owner of the property resides, shall
be required to register with the City Collectors Office.
The current fee schedule for said units on a per building basis shall be as follows:
1 - 2 Units - $25.00
3 - 10 Units - $25.00 per unit
Over 10 Units - $175.00
Apartment complex over 20 units - $350.00
The owner of such property shall be required to pay the appropriate fees and shall provide the following information required for the business license to the office of the Collector at the time that they apply for the water service.
The address of each building
Total number of properties owned by the applicant
The number of units at each premises
Occupancy status of the units, vacant or occupied
Copy of City of Waukegan zoning letter or certificate
Additionally each unit shall be subject
to an annual inspection at a fee of $20.00 per unit. Once the
units pass the annual inspection for three consecutive years,
inspection of the units will only be required once in every three
